Ecological Economic Perspectives from Islands and Across Oceans

Themes

The Conference will focus on key research areas linked to Ecological Economics analysis, perspectives, and policies, including:

  1. Sustainable and healthy national, regional and urban communities and ecosystems 
  2. Marine and coastal environments and people
  3. Building adaptive capacity and resilience in uncertain times via ecological economic-informed solutions  
  4. Ecological limits and planetary boundaries 
  5. Ecological ethics and worldviews and intrinsic value/s of nature 
  6. First Nations and Indigenous communities/economies
  7. Embedding ecological economics in education systems and
  8. Other topics consistent with the integrated multiple disciplinary perspectives of ecological economics.

  • The conference will start around 3pm Friday 4 Oct and finish around Sunday 6 Oct 5:30pm with optional field trip activities on Monday 7 Oct to 3pm.
  • An ANZSEE dinner will be held for Saturday 5 Oct from 7pm and the ANZSEE AGM has been scheduled for Sunday 6 Oct at lunchtime.

Cultural Respect & MBRS Induction

  • North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah is the traditional land and waters of the Quandamooka people.
  • A representative is planned to provide a welcome to country/acknowledgement of country on Friday 4 Oct with a smoking ceremony. We strongly encourage all delegates to attend.
  • All visitors to the MBRS are required to undertake an induction – please watch the video here at your earliest opportunity. There will also be an opportunity at the beginning of each day’s formalities from Fri 4 Oct to Sun 6 Oct to undertake the induction. Report to the registration desk at MBRS as per the program.
