  • ISEE presented the capabilities of Ocean Pasture Restoration at the recently concluded UNFCC COP25 climate talk in Madrid amidst strong warnings from leading scientists of a climate emergency.
  • Why universities need to declare a ecological and climate emergency.  Universities have a responsibility to prepare students for an uncertain future, 11 scholars from around the world argue.
  • Canadian William E. Rees is best known as one of the originators of the ‘ecological footprint’, a key indicator used by many ecological economists.   • The International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE) has recently issued a statement on the widespread deforestation problems including out-of-control fires in the Brazilian Amazon.

  • Australian Earth Laws Alliance (AELA) is hosting a conference in Melbourne on Thurs 28th and Friday 29th November, 2019, right after the ANZSEE Conference.  The AELA Conference Building Earth Ethics in Australia: Pathways and Challenges will be held at the ACU campus, 115 Victoria Parade , Fitzroy, Victoria 3065.
  • The first joint International Degrowth Research Network and International Society for Ecological Economics conference will take place 1–5 September 2020 in Manchester (UK) with the overarching theme Building Alternative Livelihoods in Times of Ecological and Political Crisis,  32 topics have been identified by those responding to the call for sub-theme session proposals (deadline 30 September 2019). The call for paper abstract proposals and its deadline will be announced in November.
  • The paperback version of Housing for Degrowth: Principles, Models, Challenges and Opportunities, a collection published in the Routledge Environmental Humanities Series and co-edited by Anitra Nelson (ANZSEE Vice-President) has been re-issued for purchase at a discount and/or get your local/university library to order it in for borrowers to share.
